Sometimes Nothing Is Everything

I woke up pretty early this morning and, like many mornings during this adventure,I woke to the sound of rain. It was probably the happiest I’ve been to hear rain in the morning. All that rain and I didn’t have to pack up my tent nor cycle through the downpour.

After six consecutive days of riding 100km or more (actually, one day was only 95km), today was a well deserved day of nothing. A very relaxing (and enjoyable) day of nothing. There would be no cycling. No traffic to fight through. No checking the map every two minutes to make sure I didn’t miss a turn. None of it. My knees were very happy. That would be the upside. The downside, of course, is that days like this don’t really make for riveting blog material.

An exciting day of laundry.

An exciting day of laundry.

My most exciting activity of the day was laundry. Long overdue laundry. Seriously long overdue laundry. I’m not going to lie. I was looking forward to having a fresh set of clean clothes.

The rest of the afternoon was just spent hanging out and playing with my friend’s very excitable (and ridiculously cute) Portuguese Water Dog – although I did find time to fit in a nap. Well, it was supposed to be a nap of about 15 minutes. Two hours later, I woke up. Apparently I was more tired than I realized.

Fast forward to dinner which was at Pizzeria Vetri. And it was really good. Thin crust pizza really is the way to go. And the Nutella pizza (with marshmallows) for dessert was, well … yes, it was as good (and gooey) as it sounds. Sadly, I didn’t have my camera with me so there is no evidence of this glorious dessert. Although, given the speed at which the pizza was eaten I don’t think having my camera there would’ve mattered.

Not sure what’s on for tomorrow but it will likely be similar to today. Sans laundry.
