2014 Toronto – St. John’s – Key West

The summer of 2014 saw me embark on my most ambitious Midlife Crisis to date. In what might be the beginning of a real midlife crisis, I gave up my apartment, left my job behind, loaded my bicycle with all the essentials (and a few non-essentials) and left Toronto and headed east. Destination: St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The planned route was to cycle east from Toronto via Picton, Kingston, Ottawa (for Canada Day), Montreal, Quebec City, Tadoussac, Natashquan, and Blanc-Sablon before taking the ferry over to Newfoundland. From there I made my way down to St. John’s.

Everything went so well – except for the minor mishaps along the way – so I then headed west through Nova Scotia before crossing over to the United States to cycle the east coast down to Florida. The map below gives a general indication of my route.
