Sometimes Uneventful is Good
At the moment I still have seven days to cover the remaining 200km to Natashquan. Barring any unforeseen problems, that should be relatively easy. So, today I decided to stay in Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan. I was going to go on a tour of a couple of the islands – and maybe I should have – but instead I just lounged around for most of the day. Simply put, I think I just needed a day of nothing.
My biggest activity of the day was a quick trip over to the small grocery store to get some sustenance for today and tomorrow’s short ride to Havre-St-Pierre. There was no need to buy too much as Havre-St-Pierre has its share of shopping options. However, I also couldn’t resist the chocolate fudge cookies that were all but calling out to me as I browsed through the aisles. At 100 calories per cookie today is shaping up to be one of my higher caloric-intake days. If I’m not careful I’m going to start gaining weight! As I mentioned earlier I did manage to spot a few more whales today – based on the frequency of their appearances I’m guessing there were two or three of them (based on all my training as a Marine Biologist). I attempted to get some photos but it’s not like they’re leaping out of the water. However, I did manage to get some evidence of what I saw.I just got back from a walk along the shore where there was a much smaller scale version of the bird feeding frenzy of yesterday. Not nearly as entertaining as the previous day’s all out blitz but still fun to watch.
I’ve already had supper – a repeat of yesterday’s rice extravaganza – and tonight is shaping up to be much like the rest of the day. Quiet. My biggest activity will probably be recharging all my electronics. I know, I know – I’m living the dream!
Tomorrow I’ll be back on the bike with hopefully more interesting tales to report.
Mark, you say that sarcastically, but you ARE living the dream. Although I suspect you’re well aware. :)
Try charging your phone via the USB port on your computer. It may be faster than the phone charger.
