Keeping Both Feet On The Ground

Today was another windy one which means two things. One, no flying. And two, a short update.

This morning's egg sandwich.

In addition to the high winds, it was also a very chilly day. Believe it or not I think last night was the coldest night of this entire journey. However, my niece informed me that I’m not allowed to complain about the cold because it snowed back home on Halloween. Fair enough. Did I mention it was four degrees when I woke up? Not complaining. Just stating a fact. A very cold fact.

Anyway, the rest of the day was again spent on the computer and trying to stay warm (still not complaining). I did take a bit of a break around noon to cycle into town for some lunch and to get some more groceries. I have to say, even with the wind and cold (not complaining), it was nice to be on the bike again.

The original plan for this evening was pretty much a continuation of the afternoon’s activities. However, that changed when one of the other pilots, David, asked if anyone wanted to go to a movie. I didn’t need to be asked twice. Ok, well … I did ask, “What movie?” first. I think more out of habit than anything. I think I would’ve gone to see pretty much anything. As it turns out the movie was “Fury” with Brad Pitt. Mini-Movie-Review Alert: It’s not exactly the “Feel good movie of the year” but most war movies aren’t. Conclusion: I quite liked it.

When we returned from the movie it was approaching 10:00 at which point I realized I hadn’t eaten anything for a bit. Not wanting to go to bed hungry, I decided to fire up the barbecue and cook up a couple of burgers that I had bought in my grocery run earlier in the day. It was a good decision. I probably should’ve taken a picture as I’m more than a little short of photos for this update. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be a more photo-friendly day.

Speaking of tomorrow, things are supposed to warm up again (definitely not complaining) so we might hook up a few cameras to the Dragonfly and the gliders to see what sort of fun footage we can collect.

Until then, it’s time to prepare for another chilly night.
