Day VII – Obama’d

It’s official. I’m flying solo again (hmmmm … kind of the story of my life!). After two more tandem flights this morning I was given the all clear to go solo. I didn’t waste any time and about 10 minutes I was doing just that.

Take-off wasn’t as smooth as I had done on the tandem flights but it wasn’t too bad – I’ll blame it on getting used to using a different glider rather than pilot error (although, it was likely the latter).

I’ll take some pictures once I get a few more solo flights on the books. Safety first!

Despite the weather being perfect for gliding, everyone is currently grounded because apparently Obama is in the area so the airspace here is closed (Apparently Air Force One has the right of way. Sigh).

DSC02601I could go for a swim in the lake next to my tent but I don’t see that happening. For now I’ll just have to relax in the 27 degree sun (and that’s not Fahrenheit!).
