The Road to Rotorua

Okay, first off there’s supposed to be another update PRIOR to this one but my PlayBook keeps freezing up on me so I can’t get at “yesterday’s update”. (technology, sheesh!)

So, today’s update – Day Three. the original plan had me arriving in Rotorua at the end of Day Two, but with some improvisations on my part I didn’t get here until now (Day Three) – which means I’ve already used up one of my few spare days :( I’m meeting up with friends in Taupo tomorrow so no rest for me :(

IMG_00000014As for The Road to Rotorua, well, I successfully avoided all navigational and tire inflational issues (covered in yesterday’s update, still to be posted). Today’s issue was simply road inclinational. I probably don’t have to tell you but biking up hill for 2.5 hours is not an entirely pleasant experience. It’s exhausting and draining of what little sanity I may have left. Before I came here, a friend’s mother asked me, “What is New Zealand known for?” I believe the answer to that is “Hills”. Long, steep, never-ending, evil (yet beautiful) hills. As I mentioned earlier, I head to Taupo tomorrow and it looks like the ride will be similar to today’s. I’m on vacation, right?

I’ll try to get some pictures posted soon. One thing New Zealand ISN’T known for is free wifi – I’m racing the clock as I type this… 7 minutes, 13 seconds before I get disconnected… ($2/20 minutes… sigh).
