Day Five (The Taupo Experience)

This will be brief – not because I didn’t do much but because photos will do a better job of recapping the day (at some point I’ll find a computer with a SD card reader so I can’t upload some photos).
My friends Brad & Gemma were excellent tour guides especially since I had no idea what I wanted to see in (and around) Taupo. The original plan was to do the Tongariro Crossing but recent “activity” in the area has resulted in the best parts of the crossing to be closed. Oh well… next trip :)
IMG_00000019This turned out to be great as there were lots of other things to do – Huka Falls, some rapids that I won’t even begin to try to spell, Orakei Koraku, Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland (I probably shouldn’t have tried to spell that), renting a boat to explore Lake Taupo. The day was wrapped up with fish and chips and watching cricket. Oh, and Pavlova (with kiwifruit) for dessert. SO good.
Hmmmm… so much for being brief!
